The BIBLE is the most spread book in the world in various languages. It ought to be the most important guide for a Christian in his daily life. It is the only reliable book, which tells us about God, our Creator. Who is God and what is His will and purpose for the mankind. God is outside this Creation and also beyond our comprehension ability. Therefore many people are very sceptic about God and even about His existence. Therefore they also are very sceptic to His Word, the Bible. There have been many attempts to invalidate the messages in the Bible. Science can not prove Gods existence by scientific means, because He is outside the area for our five physical senses. Still there are several arguments, which indicates the existence of God : The cosmological, the design and the moral arguments, e.g. More information about these can be found from the section "Some Christian Issues" .The man is created to relationship with God. Also the sin has broken this relationship, mankind is trying to restore it again in many ways. Therefore there are so many religions in the world. But this relationship can be restored only by Gods acting. He has given the means for that in the Gospel. Can we trust it? The Bible is reliable, because behind it is the guidance of the Holy Spirit : "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:20-21) This has not been always recognised and therefore there are many misconceptions regarding the Bible. But there are hundred millions of people, who has trusted the Word of God and found it reliable. Of course studying the Bible we have to recognise the backgrounds, who has said or done something, to whom it is said and why. In the Bible there are many historical descriptions and poetry, which must be understood in the right way. In Old testament there are many statues and regulations, which were given for Gods chosen people Israel. In our communities we have our own laws. As Christians we are living in the new covenant, which is given us in the New testament. The Old testament tells us about the coming Messiah, which has been fulfilled through Jesus Christ in the New testament. We ougth remember, that Jesus never doubted the Old testament, but he often referred to OT.
In the Old testament there are many very brutal stories, which people often can not understand. But we can learn a lot from them, what happens, when we are disobedient to God. Even the chosen people of Israel had often to suffer for their obedience until they humbled themselves before God (for a short time. In this way it has continued until our days. Why is Israel the chosen people? Through them we have got the Scriptures, the Old and New testament. Through them we have got Jesus Christ our Saviour. The Bible tells us, that they will have important tasks also in the future. The many fulfilled prophesies in the Bible show us, that Bible is reliable. - ISRAEL and the Prophesies in the Bible.Messiah prophesies in Old testament : There are many links also in internet, which tells us about the reliability of the Bible. Therefor I prefer to link to them. According to the description in the Old testament we must remember, that Jesus accepted them and often referred to them. (See Jesusword) So if we are critical to the stories in Old testament, must we then also reject the teachings of Jesus and the Christian faith in whole? The initial assumptions, which the historical-critical research has done, e.g. that the Bible is written by man without divine inspiration, has led to many difficult problems and misconceptions. Therefore there is the general opinion, that the Bible is full of contradictions. These arguments can in most cases be nullified by proper study.
